Input LUT + Look LUT: 2-Stage Pipeline

The core design of LUTScope: keep normalization and creative grading strictly separate. Input LUTs bring Log footage to a standard color space (e.g. Log → Rec.709). Look LUTs apply the creative tone and color on top. This separation means you always evaluate Look LUTs on properly normalized footage, making comparisons reliable and problems easy to isolate.

  • Input LUT: Log → Rec.709 normalization
  • Look LUT: Creative tone & color grading
  • Separate folder registration for Input and Look
  • Preset save / apply / delete (Input + Look combos)
  • Frame strip: Original vs. LUT Applied side by side
  • Faster root-cause isolation & confident decision making

Frame Extraction & Grid Comparison

Drag & drop video or stills and see every LUT applied to your frame in a resizable grid. Auto-extract representative frames or manually seek to the exact moment. Point LUTScope at your LUT folders and it recursively scans every .cube file, loading them lazily so the app stays fast even with 1,000+ LUTs. Search, filter by favorites, and multi-select to batch-operate.

  • Drag & drop video and still image import
  • Auto-extract frames (configurable) or manual seek
  • Anamorphic desqueeze (1.0x–2.0x)
  • Recursive .cube scan (subfolders included)
  • 1D & 3D LUT support
  • Grid view with Input / Look tab switching
  • Search, Favorite, and Assigned-only filters
  • Cmd / Shift multi-select for batch operations
  • Per-folder enable / disable toggle
  • Metal GPU acceleration

Compare Window — Where Decisions Happen

Assign up to 20 LUTs (slots A–T) to a dedicated Compare window for focused evaluation. Switch between Grid, Side by Side, and Slider display modes. Pin the window always-on-top so it stays visible while you work. The Look Intensity slider lets you dial the strength from 0 % to 200 % to find exactly the right balance.

  • 20 compare slots (A–T) in a dedicated window
  • Grid / Side by Side / Slider display modes
  • Always-on-top pin
  • Current selection overlay ON / OFF
  • Base-side Input LUT toggle (Slider mode)
  • Look Intensity: 0–200 % blend control
  • Synced video playback across all slots (±15 s range, 30 Hz, loop)
  • Export at original resolution (JPEG / PNG / TIFF 16-bit)

Output & Reproducibility

Your LUT decision is only useful if you can reproduce and communicate it. LUTScope exports full-resolution images in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF 16-bit — from both video and still image workflows — saves Input + Look presets for instant recall, and generates a readable text summary of your selections ready to share with your team.

  • Single or batch export to JPEG / PNG / TIFF 16-bit (original resolution)
  • Input + Look preset save / apply / delete
  • Text summary of LUT selections (shareable format)
  • Favorites: Input / Look (yellow) and combination (red heart)
  • Slot assignment badges (A–T) overlaid on grid cells
  • Context-menu save from Preview

Supported Formats & Limitations

LUTScope is an SDR-only, relative comparison tool. Unsupported formats are rejected at import.

Supported

  • SDR workflows (Rec.709 / sRGB)
  • Video: Rec.709 (bt709) color space
  • Stills: sRGB (ICC profiles respected at decode)
  • HEIC / HEIF: SDR single images only
  • .cube LUTs: 1D and 3D

Not Supported

  • HDR (PQ / HLG / Dolby Vision / HDR10)
  • BT.2020 or unknown color spaces
  • HEIC / HEIF with HDR Gain Maps or multi-image
  • Mixed 1D + 3D .cube files
  • Broadcast-standard verification or master QC

LUTScope helps you choose the right LUT quickly through relative comparison. It is not designed for color-accurate monitoring, broadcast delivery verification, or final master QC.
