Input LUT & Look LUT
LUTScope applies LUTs in a 2-stage pipeline: Input LUT (technical) and Look LUT (creative). This separates the camera Log conversion from creative color grading, letting you manage each independently.
Pipeline
Original→Input LUT→Look LUT (0–200%)→Final Result
Input LUT (camera.filters icon)
Purpose: A technical LUT that converts camera Log footage to Rec.709 or linear
Examples: S-Log3 to Rec.709, LogC to Rec.709
Application: Always applied at 100% intensity
Tab: Select from the "Input LUT" tab in the LUT Grid
Look LUT (eye icon)
Purpose: A creative LUT that adds a color grade or look to the footage
Examples: Film Emulation, Cinematic Look
Application: Adjustable from 0% to 200% intensity (in the Preview Window)
Tab: Select from the "Look LUT" tab in the LUT Grid
Tab Switching
Click the Input LUT / Look LUT tabs in the LUT Grid header
Input LUT tab: the grid shows the list of Input LUTs
Look LUT tab: the grid shows the list of Look LUTs (the selected Input LUT name is displayed on the tab)
Typical Workflow
Select a Log-to-Rec.709 conversion LUT on the Input LUT tab
Switch to the Look LUT tab
The Look LUT list previews with the Input LUT already applied
Select a Look LUT you like
Adjust intensity (0–200%) in the Preview Window as needed
1D LUT Note
1D LUT: Tone conversion only (no hue or saturation changes). Displayed with an orange [1D] badge
3D LUT: Converts hue, saturation, and luminance. Displayed with a cyan [3D] badge
Using a 1D LUT as a Look LUT triggers a warning ("A 1D LUT performs tone conversion only. A 3D LUT is recommended for Look usage.")

Final Result
Preview output
Both LUTs are optional and can be used independently or together
LUTScope is designed for previewing and selecting LUTs, not for final color grading. The rendered result may not exactly match the output of editing software such as Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve due to differences in color pipeline implementation.
LUT Sidebar
The left sidebar integrates a folder tree, search, and favorite filters for your LUT library. Toggle visibility with ⌘1.
Folder Tree
Folders are displayed hierarchically with disclosure triangles (▶) to expand/collapse
Each folder shows a LUT count badge like "(5)"
Click a folder to filter the grid to that folder's LUTs only (click again to clear)
Right-click → Show in Finder to open the folder in Finder
Search
Type in the sidebar search field (magnifying glass icon + mode icon)
LUTs are filtered in real time by name
Search results also show the folder path
The × button clears the search
Favorite Filter Badge
Click the yellow "Favorite" badge at the right end of the search field to toggle the Input/Look LUT favorite filter.
The footer shows how many LUTs are loaded and your favorite counts for Input and Look LUTs. When a folder filter is active, a Show All button lets you clear it and see the full list again.
Favorite System (3 Types) & Titling
LUTScope provides three distinct favorite types to record your LUT evaluations at different levels of specificity — from a single LUT to a precise Input + Look combination.
1. Assignment Favorite (♥ Red Heart) + Custom Title
Target: A specific Input LUT + Look LUT combination
Icon: Red heart (heart.fill)
Purpose: Record “this Input LUT paired with this Look LUT is great”
Example: Input “ARRI LogC to Rec709” + Look “Film Look A” → register this exact pair as a favorite
How to register: Grid context menu → Favorite ♥ → enter a title (up to 50 characters, auto-numbered as “Favorite N” if left blank) → Save
2. Input LUT Favorite ( Yellow camera.filters)
Target: A single Input LUT (available only in Input LUT mode)
Icon: Yellow camera.filters icon
Purpose: Record “this Input LUT is good” — regardless of which Look LUT is paired with it
Example: Mark “ARRI LogC to Rec709” alone as a favorite
How to register: Sidebar favorite toggle or grid context menu
Filter: Yellow camera.filters icon in the grid header / yellow Favorite badge in the sidebar search field
3. Look LUT Favorite ( Yellow eye)
Target: A single Look LUT (available only in Look LUT mode)
Icon: Yellow eye icon
Purpose: Record “this Look LUT is good” — regardless of which Input LUT is applied upstream
Example: Mark “Film Look A” alone as a favorite
How to register: Sidebar favorite toggle or grid context menu
Filter: Yellow eye icon in the grid header

LUT Summary
Export a text file listing all selections in 4 sections: Assignment Favorites / Slot Assignments / Input Favorites / Look Favorites
Load video or stills and register your Input LUT and Look LUT folders
In the LUT Grid (Input LUT mode), mark promising Input LUTs with Input Favorite (yellow)
Switch to Look LUT mode and mark promising Look LUTs with Look Favorite (yellow)
For combinations you especially like, add an Assignment Favorite (red heart) with a descriptive title
Use LUT Summary to save and share your selections as a text list
Use LUT Summary Package to bundle the selected LUT files and preview images for your editing team
Filter Controls
Three filter toggles in the LUT Grid header:
Slot Filter (character.textbox icon): Show only cells assigned to comparison slots
Assignment Favorite Filter (red heart): Show only red-heart favorites
Input/Look Favorite Filter (yellow camera.filters / eye): Show only yellow favorites
Rules
Assignment Favorites use a compound key (Input + Look pair). Changing either LUT creates a different favorite entry — the same Look LUT paired with a different Input LUT is treated as a separate favorite
The same LUT cannot be marked as both an Input LUT favorite and a Look LUT favorite simultaneously
Clearing loaded media removes all Assignment Favorites, but Input/Look favorites are preserved
Bulk deletion of all favorites is available in Settings → Data Management
Favorite Section
The Favorite Section panel at the bottom of the sidebar lists all registered combination favorites (red heart), providing search and quick access.
Steps
Locate the Favorite Section panel at the bottom of the sidebar
Drag the handle at the top of the panel to resize it
Search by title using the search field (placeholder: "Title")
Click a favorite row to instantly load its combination (Input LUT + Look LUT)
Row Contents
Each favorite row displays:
Red heart icon
Custom title (or auto-title "Favorite N")
Input LUT name + Look LUT name
Availability indicator: grayed out if the LUT is not in a currently active folder
Context Menu
Unfavorite: Remove the favorite
Favorites are saved persistently and remain available across sessions
If a LUT's folder is no longer registered, the entry appears grayed out until the folder is added back
